Recreational Pilot Licence

 

A Recreational Pilot Licence is the first licence you can obtain as a pilot. It allows you take control of an aircraft as pilot in command with passengers within the local area. All pilots begin their training at this level. During the course, students learn how to handle the aircraft in all situations necessary for safe flight. This is a flexible course that can be undertaken at Sydney Flight College on a full-time or part-time basis.

 


Course Overview

This course is designed to qualify you for

  • Recreational Pilot Licence
  • Fly an aeroplane on your own, or with friends and family
  • Authorised for operations at Bankstown Airport and D566A & D566B Training Areas covering greater western Sydney

Practical Flight Training

Conducted at Sydney Flight College Bankstown Airport NSW Australia (RTO ID 90866)

  • Aeroplane - 34.7 hours including 5.1 hours pilot-in-command
  • Simulator - 1 hours
  • Flight Briefing - 12 hours
  • Classroom and aeroplane based face to face

Aeronautical Knowledge Training

Conducted at Sydney Flight College Bankstown Airport NSW Australia (RTO ID 90866)

  • 35 hour theory course Basic Aeronautical Knowledge
  • Classroom based face to face

Total Course Hours
  • Practical Flight Training - 35.7 hours
  • Aeronautical Knowledge Training - 35 hours
  • Flight Briefing - 12 hours
  • Total Practical Flight Training and Aeronautical Knowledge Training - 82.7 hours
  • It is anticipated the trainee will invest an equivalent amount of hours of self study to satisfactory complete the Aeronautical Knowledge Training Examinations and the Units of Competency Assessment Tools for this course

Licences

Upon successful completion of this course the trainee will be awarded the following CASA Licence(s)

  • Recreational Pilot Licence

Ratings

Upon successful completion of this course the trainee will be awarded the following CASA Rating(s)

  • Single-Engine Aeroplane Class Rating

Endorsements

If a Recreational Pilot Licence is your ultimate goal, upon successful completion of this course the trainee will be awarded the following CASA Endorsement(s)

  • Controlled Aerodrome Endorsement
  • Flight Radio Endorsement

Entry Requirements

Applicants must demonstrate evidence of the following

  • Aviation Reference Number
  • Aviation Security Identity Card
  • Class 1 or 2 Medical Certificate

  • Practical flight training is conducted in four seat single-engine aeroplanes at Sydney Flight College

  • Simulator practical flight training is conducted in a full motion synthetic training device


What is not Included

  • CASA Practical Flight Standards Testing Fee
  • Assessment Services Limited (ASL) Aeronautical Knowledge Training Testing Fee's
  • CASA Licence Fee
  • Examination and CASA fees approximately $1500


Notes

  • If training is not completed within twelve months, remaining sessions are charged at the session rate current at that time
  • You can discontinue at any time without penalty (but if paid in advance the discount benefit will be forfeited)
  • Practical flight training hours quoted are realistic minimum requirements achievable for the average trainee pilot
  • If the trainee is not yet competant at the completion of this course additional training will be required at the trainee's expense
  • Course Rate Aviation gasoline (AVGAS) has been quoted at the average NSW bowser price
  • Should the price of AVGAS exceed the Bankstown boswer rate of AUD$2.25 per litre including GST (the Course Rate), the trainee agrees to be invoiced for the difference between the New Bowser Rate and the Course Rate.
  • This course is non-accredited training
