POSITION OVERVIEW
Role Title: Flight Operations Coordinator
Employment Type: Full Time
Location: Bankstown Aerodrome, Sydney NSW
Join one of Australia's most respected flight training organisations
Sydney Flying Club (SFC) was born as Schofields Flying Club Ltd. more than 57 years ago and has grown to become the largest flying club in NSW. Today, the SFC family includes Sydney Flying Club, Sydney Flight College and SFC Pilot Academy Tamworth, delivering industry-leading flight training and aviation services across multiple locations.
Our reputation has been built on operational excellence, outstanding training outcomes and an enviable safety record. All SFC operations are supported by a CASA-approved Safety Management System and a passionate team dedicated to developing the next generation of aviation professionals.
While our organisation has grown significantly, we remain proud of our heritage. Around the industry, we're still affectionately known as "Schoies" by many of our members, reflecting the culture, camaraderie and reputation we've built over decades.
About the Role
This is not a typical administration role.
As a Flight Operations Coordinator, you'll sit at the centre of a busy and dynamic flight training operation where no two days are the same. You'll coordinate the moving pieces that keep our training operation running efficiently, including aircraft, instructors, students, flight examiners, maintenance activities, ground theory schedules and regulatory requirements.
If you enjoy solving complex scheduling puzzles, balancing competing priorities and finding ways to make everything come together seamlessly, this role will be incredibly rewarding.
Think of it as operational Tetris: finding the best way to align resources, people and opportunities so that students continue progressing through their training while maintaining safety, efficiency and exceptional customer service.
Why This Role is Different
Our Flight Operations team is a close-knit group of six aviation professionals comprised of Assistant Operations Managers and Flight Operations Coordinators.
Most of the team are pilots and instructors, however we're specifically seeking someone who wants to build a long-term career in aviation operations rather than pursuing a flying career.
You might be someone who:

- Enjoys coordinating people, resources and schedules
- Thrives in fast-paced operational environments
- Takes pride in finding solutions to complex logistical challenges
- Wants to become an expert in aviation operations and training coordination
We're looking for a consistent operational specialist who wants to grow with the business and become a key part of our operational success.

- Manage examiner bookings, travel and accommodation arrangements
- Ensure students meet prerequisites and are prepared for testing
Customer Service & Stakeholder Management
- Build strong relationships with students, instructors and examiners
- Provide exceptional service via phone, email and face-to-face interactions
- Support a positive student experience throughout training
Safety, Administration & Compliance
- Support compliance with CASA requirements and company procedures
- Participate in operational handovers and team communications
- Contribute to SFC's strong safety culture and reporting processes
About You
You'll be highly organised, resilient and energised by a busy operational environment.
You'll also bring:
- Strong scheduling, administration or operational coordination experience
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Exceptional attention to detail
- The ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Confidence working in a fast-paced environment where plans can change quickly
- A collaborative approach and willingness to support your teammates
Highly Regarded
- Aviation industry experience
- Flight training organisation experience
- Knowledge of aviation operations
- Experience working with complex rostering or scheduling systems
- Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL)
Why Join SFC?
- Be part of one of Australia's most established and respected aviation organisations
- Work with a passionate team that genuinely supports one another
