(Commercial Pilot Licence - Aeroplane)
The Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) Diploma of Aviation (AVI50222) is the required licence for those who want to work as a pilot in the aviation industry, (domestic, international airlines and charter companies).
(Instrument Rating)
Includes Multi-Engine Instrument Rating (MEIR)
The Multi-Engine Instrument Rating is considered the peak of professional qualifications for commercial pilots. The MEIR allows pilots to fly in full Instrument Meteorological Conditions (IMC) at all phases of the flight, at all times.
These courses are not offered at our college in Bankstown, providing a unique training opportunity exclusive to SFC Pilot Academy.
(MCC)
The Multi-Crew Cooperation (MCC) qualification equips pilots with all the skills needed to fly professionally within a multi-crew environment. With teamwork being key to safe airline operations, pilots will meet the high standards demanded by today’s advanced aircraft with confidence.
(UPRT)
The Upset Prevention Recovery Training rating is an extra safety component that enables pilots to always be prepared for the unexpected. This training equips pilots with the skills needed to effectively react to and manage abnormal situations.

(ATPL)
The Airline Transport Pilot Licence allows you to be the Pilot In Command of a Multi Crew Aircraft in an Air Transport Operation. Holding all ATPL subject theory credits allows the airline you are working for to upgrade you to Captain when the time arrives. Most airlines in Australia require pilot applicants to hold ATPL theory credits prior to recruitment.

As part of your Airline Pilot Package you will sit CASA Theory Exams.
Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL)
Before undertaking your flight test to obtain your Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL), you must first sit your CASA Commercial Pilot Licence (Aeroplane) exams.
The exams will test your knowledge on 7 different subjects:
1. CMET (Meteorology)
2. CNAV (Navigation)
3. CLWA (Flight rules and Air law)
4. CADA (Aerodynamics)
5. CFPA (Operation, performance and flight planning)
6. CSYA (Aircraft general knowledge)
7. CHUF (Human factors)
You must achieve at least 70% (A pass mark of 80% required for CLWA). Exam costs (first attempt only) are included in your tuition fee.
Instrument Rating (IR)
Before undertaking your flight test to obtain your Instrument Rating, you must first sit your CASA Instrument Rating (IREX) exam.
The exam will test your knowledge of the completed course units. You have 3.5 hours to complete the exam, and you must achieve at least 70%. Exam costs are included in your tuition fee.
Airline Transport Pilot Licence Exams (ATPL)
To test your theory on an aeroplane licence (ATPL) you will do 7 exams on different subjects.
1. AALW - Air Law
2. AHUF - Human Factors
3. AMET -Meteorology
4. ANAV - Navigation
5. AASA - Aerodynamics and Aircraft Systems
6. APLA - Performance and Loading
7. AFPA - Flight Planning
To get a full ATPL exam credit, you need to pass the 7 subject parts of the ATPL exam in one 2 year window.

A chance for you to visit the clubhouse and college campus and check out our training fleet in person. A Course Adviser will explain all relevant information about the International Pilot Package and answer any questions you may have.

Complete the online application form on our website to commence the application process and secure your position on the course.
Proof of HSC (or equivalent)
Provide a copy of your Higher School Certificate (HSC), AQF Certificate IV or higher.
ARN Application
Apply for an Aviation Reference Number (ARN), which CASA uses to identify you and link your flight training results and licences.
Class 1 Medical
Book an appointment for a Class 1 Medical with a DAME (Designated Aviation Medical Examiner). A Class 1 Medical is an annual requirement for all commercial pilots and assesses your physical and mental health.
A valid medical certificate must be provided before a Letter of Offer can be issued. Any delays may affect your enrolment.

Digital Assessment
This assesses your digital skills to ensure you meet the requirements to complete the course.
Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Assessment*
This assesses your foundational language, literacy, numeracy skills to ensure you meet the requirements to successfully complete the course.
**Required only if you do not hold a HSC or AQF Certificate IV or higher.
Theory Assessment - Part B
Aptitude Assessment
This assesses your foundational maths, physics and cognitive reasoning abilities, as well as multitasking, learning and situational awareness.
You have 1 hour and 45 minutes to complete this assessment which must be completed onsite. Your camera must remain on throughout the assessment, which will be recorded and may be remotely observed by an SFC representative.
Cadet Personality Questionnaire
This assesses your personality, values, behaviours
and attitudes.
Control and Coordination Test (Ball Game)
This assesses your control and coordination skills.
Virtual Flight Test
This assesses your ability to multitask, follow procedures and maintain control of height, heading and speed.
You have 1 hour and 30 minutes to complete this assessment onsite.
Screening Interview
Meet with SFC representatives to discuss your motivation, application results, course requirements, and provide original proof of identity.
Passport or Birth Certificate is required if applying for a VET Student Loan.
ASIC Application
Apply for an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC) following a successful Screening Interview, with guidance from SFC.
Club Membership
Join SFC as a Full Club Member to access aircraft hire, flyaways, club events and discounts. SFC is a not-for-profit flight school, and all students are required to hold a club membership.
