Can I attend SFC Pilot Academy Tamworth if I'm under 18 years old?

To enrol at SFC Pilot Academy Tamworth, you must have celebrated your 18th birthday.

Can I go home during my training?

There are several scheduled breaks (totaling 10weeks) during the 21-month training program. Any additional leave requiresapproval from the Head of Flight Operations.

Where will the CASA exams be conducted?

All CASA exams will be conducted off-site in Tamworth.

Can I study on a student visa?

Yes. International students may study eligible courses using an appropriate Australian student visa. Students must maintain valid visa conditions throughout their enrolment and should refer to SFC admissions staff for current CRICOS and enrolment requirements.

What happens if my visa is refused?

If a student visa application is refused before course commencement, any refund entitlement will be handled in accordance with SFC's refund policy and applicable Australian regulations. Students should submit visa refusal documentation as soon as possible.

What level of English do I need?

International students should demonstrate English language proficiency sufficient to undertake aviation training, understand safety instructions, and communicate effectively. Evidence may include recognised English test results or other accepted proof of proficiency, subject to entry requirements. SFC requires all International Students to achieve a level 6.5 across the individual bands of the IELTS test.

Will I receive support as an international student?

Yes. International students can seek assistance regarding academic progress, welfare, accommodation, orientation, and referral to external support services where required.

Do I need Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC)?

Most student visa holders are required to maintain Overseas Student Health Cover for the duration of their stay in Australia.

Can I transfer from another provider?

In many cases, students may be able to transfer from another education provider. Applications are assessed individually and may require academic records, visa details, and evidence of completed training.

How do I lodge a complaint?

Students should first raise concerns with the relevant staff member or student support team. If the matter is not resolved, a formal complaint can be submitted through SFC's complaints and appeals process in accordance with its student policies and procedures.

Do I need to live on campus?

Yes. Students are required to live onsite to support the immersive training environment and achieve course outcomes.

Where will I live and what's included?

You will reside on campus at the SFC Pilot Academy in Tamworth, with your accommodation just a five-minute walk from our operations and flight training facility. Living on campus provides you with complete immersion in an aviation training environment. Our all-facilities are tailored to help you focus on your training.

Can family or friends visit me?

Visitors may be permitted in certain circumstances, subject to approval from the Head of Flight Operations.

Will I have my own bedroom and bathroom facilities?

Yes, you will be assigned with your own 27 m2 studio apartment, including a private ensuite.

Is there a laundromat available, and do I need to provide anything?

Shared laundry facilities are available in each accommodation block. You should bring your own laundry detergent.

How much does accommodation cost?

Accommodation costs may vary depending on the course package and intake. International students should contact SFC admissions for the latest accommodation and living cost information, including food and accommodation levies.

The Pilot Academy Tamworth is a secure facility. Each student will be issued with a security access card.

Will I have any days off?

The Airline Pilot Package is an accelerated program delivered six days per week. Sundays will be your scheduled day off. There is a 2 week break during your course.

What recreational facilities will I have access to and do I need to pay for anything extra?

Within the Academy, you will have access to basketball and tennis courts, a soccer field, swimming pool and access to a gym. If you would like to utilise these facilities, please bring your own recreational equipment and clothing.
